Soccer Wedding On New Year’s Eve
The US Soccer star Alex Morgan ties knot with longtime boyfriend and MLS player Servando Carrasco on this New Year’s Eve in the presence of all the family, friends and teammates in Santa Barbara, California and it looked like the party was on because they are a perfect match for each other both on and off the field. Alex Morgan led the US team and won the gold medal in Summer Olympics 2012. She scored a last minute goal in extra time in the match against Canada in the semis. On the other hand, Carrasco is also a high achiever being the star midfielder for Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer.
Apart from Olympic gold Alex is also FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. She plays as a forward for her team Orlando Pride and the US women’s national soccer team. She also played soccer at university level in Berkeley. She was the youngest player at the age of 22 in 2011FIFA Women’s World Cup. She scored 28 goals and 21 assists in 2012 to become second American women to have 20 goals and 20 assists in same year. She was named US Soccer Female Athlete of the Year as well.
Morgan was born in San Dimas, California in the year 1989. Since the beginning she was a multi-sport athlete and started to play soccer. She joined club soccer at the age of 14 playing for Cypress Elite. Morgan was 3 time all league pick and was named All American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as she was always known for her speed and agility. Then at the age of 17 she was called upon for US under 20 women’s national soccer team. Morgan has been very successfully and prolifically scoring in all the matches that she has been participated in. At very young age the list of her awards and achievements is a very long one.
Alex and Servando were engaged a year ago in December and got married in front of 180 guests. In an interview to People Magazine, Morgan told that the wedding was just magical because of the presence of all the family and friends on New Year’s Eve and in such a beautiful location. She added to it that she really married her best friend and is very excited and grateful to carry on her life with her husband.
Morgan wore a beautiful gown designed by Berta Bridal and then later on switched to Amsale dress for reception and Carrasco had an Armani tux on. Both were looking beautiful together and were really enjoying their special moments. There were two cocktails for the guests in the wedding; the authentic Cadillac margarita and Moscow mule. In honor of Carrasco and his background the guests were served with Mexican-American dinner in family style including homemade churros and a quesadilla bar. In and interview to The Knot, in response to a question about incorporating any family traditions into the wedding ceremony to she said “Servando’s from Mexico, so the food is going to be Latin-infused. Our menu is going to have really good food — we’re both athletes and love to eat! And although the ceremony is in English, we might have someone read something in Spanish to honor both of our cultures”. As the menu described above things went exactly according to the plans. The party went on late into the night and a live band performed later on joined by a DJ. A balloon drop at midnight was also included in the festivities.
The wedding night was essentially the reunion Morgan’s national teammates as well. While giving interview to People.com she said “To be surrounded by our family and friends tonight in such a beautiful location, and on New Year’s Eve to boot, has just been magical,”. Then she added “We are both so happy, grateful and excited to start our lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Carrasco. I truly married my best friend”. If the photos correctly indicate, they had a great time on their wedding.
