An Overview of Beauty and the Beast (2017)
On 26th January 2015 Emma Watson made and announcement that she is going to be in the lead role as Belle for the up coming project Beauty and the Beast. After two months she made confirmation through here tweets that Luke Evans and Dan Stevens are going to be part of the story while playing as Gaston and the Beast respectively. After 2 weeks Josh Gad was added to the cast to play the role of LeFou, Gaston’s sidekick and after 3 days Emma Thompson was revealed to be part of the project playing the role of Mrs. Potts while Kevin Kline was announced to play Maurice, Belle’s father. The project was announced by Disney on 16th March, 2016 and its principle photography started on 18th May, 2015 in London while the filming concluded on 21st August, 2015. The film is directed by Bill Condon and produced by Don Hahn, David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. They story is written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and is based on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast by Linda Woolverton and Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. The film is to be released on 17th March, 2017.
Back in the year 2009, Disney started to work on a movie based on 1994 Broadway musical but for some reason the working on the project stopped. Then again after working on live-action version projects like Cinderella, Maleficent and The Jungle Book, Disney started to work on this project in 2014 and signed Bill Condon to direct. The director originally planned to include most of the songs from Broadway musical with an intention to keep it simple, straight-forward, close to the original and big budget musical film. Then composer Alan Menken was hired to score the music of the film with original and some new material written by himself and Time Rice. However, he made and announcement in June 2015 that the film will not include any songs written for the Broadway musical and all the stuff will be new.
The live action remake of the film is definitely going to be worth watching for so many reason. First being that the storyline is going to be different from the original and the second reason is that the original songs are not going to be part of this movies so, it is going to be different fairy-tale as we know it. Plus, Emma Watson is going to be in the role for Belle and the fans are very excited to see her outside the character of Hermione Granger from Harry Potter for a while. Another very interesting news for her fans is that she is also singing 3 songs in this live-action take of a fairy tale. At this time there is not much revealing that what is going to be unveiled in this movie but having a look at the top 3 most crucial characters we might be able to get something useful here.
For some, Emma might be a good option for Belle or might be not. While Disney’s original character was a bright face, big eyed beauty, Emma looks different yet she has that bookish, yet bright but stubborn attributes that she carry from her character in Harry Potter. However, she does possess that behavior which is required by her to carry the role effectively. She will give us a better insight of the character. Dan Stevens in his previous roles from the television series Downton Abbey and in movie The Fifth Estates has really proved himself as an actor will be able to become a household name with this film starring as the Beast. The great thing for him is that the character has been redefined all together so he can do all the creative work to inspire the audience and not to forget the special effects of CGI associated with his role. Luke Evans has starred as Brad in the sequels of The Hobbit and as Shaw in the sixth installment of Fast & Furious and he will play the role of collusive narcissist, Gaston. Similar to Dan’s role you can not exude the attributes and physique of Luke’s role as well but with his experience he will surely give a more pathological interpretation to this character in the live-action scenes from the remake.
